Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

February 28, 2011


President Lu Leslan (formerly known as KaiLi Yang) opened the meeting at 9:42 am.


Minutes

 The January minutes were approved as posted.


Finance Report

Sherry Owen reviewed the finance report.  Email Sherry to get a hard copy of the report. She reviewed the income and expense lists. The chapter received $432 for the Jane Bastien workshop, and the total income for workshops this year was $2,134. The adjudications and scholarship competition registrations were also deposited. 


Membership Report

Jeanne Ellis introduced a new member. She reminded members that their certificates were on the check-in table, and asked that members please pick them up. She made the mentor list available, and explained and passed around the teacher referral list. She reminded members that membership renewals are coming up. Please send any updated addresses or phone numbers to her.


Nominating Committee

Jeanne Ellis listed the nominating committee members. The committee had three positions to fill, and Julie Howe was acknowledged as the incoming President. Jeanne read the procedures for nomination. Nominations were presented and approved as follows: President-Elect: Stephanie White; Vice President: Christina Bach; Treasurer: Sherry Owen; Recording Secretary: Renata Shumskaya; Corresponding Secretary: Donna Sams. The nominations for the listed positions closed.


Adjudications

Sheri Skidmore outlined the forms in the adjudication packets. She reminded the members that if their time slot is near the lunch break, please coordinate with your church chair regarding lunch for the adjudicator. 


Honors Recital

Ariel Chou requested the Honors recital forms be mailed or emailed to her by deadline listed on the form.


Scholarship Competition

Julie shared that the door monitor and student time schedules will be sent out this week. The program is finished thanks to Sammie Marten. There is still room for more timekeepers, so please talk with Donna Sams if interested.


Correspondence

Risa sent thank you to Cassandra Carr and Deborah Dewey for serving the chapter in the Woodcock series. She sent a card and travel stipend to Dong Won Lee, and received a thank you from him for the stipend. Risa read an email from PAFE reminding members of the PAFE festival in April.


Library

Pamela shared that there will be a used book sale at the April meeting, so members were encouraged to bring books to donate in April.


New Business  

Lu Leslan announced that she is turning the role of past president over to Carol Hibbard. She thanked the membership for the great experience as president.

Lu asked if any members were going to the National convention in Wisconsin.

Programs

Eric announced that Carolyn Carson will be presenting on how to teach class piano.
