WSMTA General Meeting
April 24th, 2006
President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 10:00. The minutes of the March meeting were
approved.
TreasurerŐs Report The treasurerŐs report was
presented by Egle Peller. An attachment is included with this report.
Teacher Referral The teacher referral sheet was
passed around.
Library
Report Sherry Owen
announced that since there is no meeting until September, teachers who check
out library materials today should contact her to return materials during the
summer.
Membership Chris Lee reported there is no new
member this month.
Nominating
Committee Gladys Bath reported that
the committee is continuing to search the vice-president candidate. A basket
was passed around for teachers to make nomination. Julie Howe nominated Yunbo
Cassady as vice-president. Yunbo responded that she will need time to think
about it. Carol said since the next vice-president only has one year to prepare
the president position, she is willing to stay in the president position for an
extra year if the vice-president needs more time.
Correspondence
Report Donna Sams announced that Nancy Drake is
recovering very well. Yunbo Cassady announced Sammi Martin
hurt her knees. A get well card will be sent to Sammi
WSMTA
Distrct VP Presentation Kaycee
Groom announced State Conference is coming on June 26th. Cost
waivers are still available. May 15th is the due date for conference
registration discount. October 14th
is the district conference. Some interactive workshops are still looked for.
This year, the District Competition will have vocal competition. The 2007 MTNA
Conference will be in Toronto. The Pedagogy Friday is looking for students
recording and asking teachersŐ help.
Scholarship Competition Report Carol
Hibbard thanked Nicole Kim and Nancy Jang for taking great care of this job.
She also thanked for teachersŐ participation and help. Nicole Kim announced the
competition ended nicely. The chapter received a very positive comment from the
judges about hospitality and studentsŐ quality. Nicole also thanked teachers,
students and parentsŐ participation and Rose Hill Presbyterian ChurchŐs help. The competition result is
available on the website. Martha Annin award was broken down to three awards. $300
will be given to the first place and $100 to the second and the third place.
Scholarship
Concert Selina
Chu announced that our year 2006 scholarship concert will be performed by Paul
Robert on the first weekend of November. His workshop will be on Saturday last
afternoon.
Other
Business Carol
Hibbard reminded teachers to renew the membership. Renewal deadline for
inclusion in Yearbook is July 15th. Donna Bender announced that the Steinway Society invited Dr.
Peter Mack to perform in Meydenbauer on June 4th. A master class
will be given the day before the concert. The students will be picked by Dr.
Mack based on the repertoire.
Program
Jennifer Li
announced that todayŐs program will be presented byCassandra Carr. The topic is
ŇCreating an Annual Strategic Plan for Each StudentÓ.
