Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Board Meeting

February 13th,2006

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:28 am.   Attending members were:   Carol Hibbard, Chris Lee, Egle Peller, Nicole Kim, Nancy Jang, Carmen Still, and Jessica Chiu.  The minutes from January 9th, 2006  board meeting were approved.

TreasurerŐs Report    The treasurerŐs report was attached. Egle Peller reported the CDs are maturing soon. $4000 dollars will be withdrawn from the Barton CD to cover scholarships paid in 2004, 2005, and those to be paid this year.  The rest of CDs will be renewed the rest of CDs will be renewed.  The net income of the Scholarship concert in 2005 is $2719.01(See the attachment for detail) and the Ribbon Festival net income this year is $171.91.

Scholarship Competition  Nicole Kim reported that eighty-three students registered the competition from sixteen teachers. The total application fee $4295 was received. $128.12 was expended including  Microsoft Publisher .  The competition certificate will be made until the better quality paper is found.  Nancy reported the schedule of the competition was arranged. The meal fee for each judge is $25. Time keepers are still recruiting. The proposal from Professor Regina Yeh of using the laptop to type comments was approved.

Adjudications    Selina Chu reported 497 students joining the adjudication. Some problems are still needed to be resolved: One of the adjudicators, Calvin Knapp, is double dated. The Celebration Church in plateau is going to be sold; the reach of new location will be needed.  Carol thanked the WSMTA adjudication chair, Dianne Johnston, for helping the chapter adjudication.

 Ribbon Festival    The financial information for Ribbon Festival programming software was provided by Carmen Still. The motion to commission the programming software for the Ribbon Festival with the maximum funding of $3,000 dollars is made by Chris Lee and seconded by Nancy Jang. The motion was approved.

Workshops Report  Carol reported the last workshop was very successful. The total amount received from the last workshop is $255. The total income of three workshops is $1162 which is over the budget of $1000.

Membership   Chris Lee reported no new member join this month. Carmen will send a thank you card to the owner of Kennelly Keys for the use of 11 keyboards during the Ribbon Festival.

Corresponding Secretary   Carol Hibbard announced for Donna Sams that two new baby cards were sent. Kevin Jung passed away and a sympathy card will be sent.
