Eastside Chapter,  WSMTA General Meeting

                                        January 23, 2006                          

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:55am and thanked Nancy Jang for the pre-meeting recital.  The minutes of the November 28th meeting were approved. The teacher referral sheet was passed around.

 

TreasurerÕs Report   The treasurerÕs report was presented by Egle Peller. An attachment is included with this report.

 

Membership   Chris Lee welcomed Maria Khavin and Nino Merabishvili to join the chapter. The membership updates is on the back of the meeting agenda.

Ribbon Festival   Carol Hibbard announced that the Ribbon Festival on Saturday, January 21st was very successful. Students and parents really enjoyed the Festival and some great comments were received by parents and teachers. Carol thanked Carmen Still and Judy Huehn for devoting their time and effort to this event. Carmen Still reported that parent volunteers requirements will be restructured for next year. The board may commission a scheduling software program to save the work of scheduling in the future.

Correspondence Report    Donna Sams reported that a baby card was sent to Chris Lee and a thank you card was sent to Lisa Bergman.

Adjudications   Adjudication packets will be available on the February meeting. Teachers may also pick up in Sherman Clay.

Workshop  Sandra Heinke reported the last workshop this year will be on February 10th presented by Dr. Randolf Hokanson. The topic, Ò What is InterpretationÓ, will cover the discussion of Interpretation from different aspects including fundamental style, articulation, Dynamic and etc.

Scholarship Competition Report   Nicole Kim and Nancy Jang announced that the competition registration is due on today at 5:00pm. Forty students already registered. CompetitorsÕ order will be determined by the lottery drawing on February 27th.

Library Report  Sherry Owen passed around the library survey and encouraged teachers to write down the comments to improve the library.

Program  Jennifer Li announced that todayÕs program will be presented by Nancy Drake. The topic is ÒIndependent Music TeachersÕ FormÓ. The original speaker, Cassandra Carr, will present the program in April.
