Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

October 22, 2007

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:31 am. After clarifying a comment in the September minutes, the minutes from the September meeting were approved as corrected.

Finance Report

Jeanine Edmonds printed the treasurer's finance report on the back of the business meeting agenda. She reminded members to feel free to ask her whatever questions they might have.

Membership Report

Carol pointed out the updates for the yearbook on the back of the agenda.

Teacher Referral Sign-up

The teacher referral sign-up was made available to the members.

Correspondence Report

Betty Mak sent a thank you letter to Sherman Clay for the wonderful luncheon, and to Jeff Hack and Leng Tshua for their gracious help during the workshop. She also sent the check to Lake Washington chapter to help in whatever way was most needed. Carol explained that due to a miscommunication, a supportive check promised to Lake Washington chapter 2-3 years ago was forgotten. This check was the response to the unfulfilled promise.

Scholarship Recital Report

Yunbo Cassady asked that all unsold tickets for the scholarship concert be returned to Yunbo. She reminded the members that the concert night is the deadline for tickets and payment. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Adjudications

A list was passed around for teacher's estimates of participating students to help the adjudications committee make plans.

Ribbon Festival

Carmen Still reported that the festival was on track. Carol stated that the information was on the chapter website.

Scholarship Competition Report

Yunbo Cassady reported a great scholarship competition meeting. She asked that anyone who was not at the meeting and would like to be a part of the scholarship competition, please contact her. Information can be downloaded off the website.

Miscellaneous

Carol Hibbard reminded members about the WSMTA competition at Whitworth College. They are in desperate need of help, so anyone who would be able to help, please contact Dianne Johnston at dianne@silverlink.net.

Carol pointed out the information on the Young Composers Competition located on the back of the handout. She also reminded everyone of the upcoming concert with Frank Wiens on November 2, 2007.
