Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

April 28, 2008

 

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:51 am. The March minutes were approved as posted.

 

Finance Report

        The finance report was presented. (see attached) It stands approved as presented.

 

Correspondence Report

        Betty Mak sent a congratulations card to Min Joo Yi and a $200 travel stipend for her trip to Nationals.

 

Teacher Referral Sign-up

        The teacher referral sign-up was made available to the members

 

May Luncheon

        The May Luncheon will be held on May 5th at the home of Randy Jackson.

 

Scholarship Competition Report

        The competition was held on April 1-4th and was very successful.

 

Scholarship Recital Report

        The 2008 Scholarship Recital will be October 24th at 7pm. The recitalist is Steven Spooner with a program aimed toward students.  There will be a workshop Thursday morning on October 23rd  as well.

 

Library

        Sherry Owen had no library news to report.

 

Membership Report

        Rebecca reminded members that the dues for 2008-2009 are due on June 30th.  This is important for their inclusion into the yearbook.

 

New Business

There will be a concert called Ten Grands at Benaroya on May 16th.  A special ticket price was available to teachers.

The National convention winners' programs were available to those interested.

The WSMTA conference will be held on June 23-27th in Bremerton.  The speaker this year is Barbara Lister-Sink. If anyone is interested in carpooling please contact Carol Hibbard.

 

Programs

        Donald Denegar  introduced Susan Chan as the program presenter. She will be presenting a multimedia performance of Chopin's Twenty-Four Preludes, Op. 28 and Bach/Busoni's Chaconne in D minor.

 

The meeting adjourned at 10:26am.
