Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

November 24, 2008

 

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:51 am. The October minutes were approved as posted.

 

Finance Report

        Jeanine Edmonds gave the finance report. (see attached) The chapter received over $10,000 for the

Scholarship recital and $1,000 for the workshops. She noted that some travel expenses have gone down. She

reminded members to go through the appropriate committee chairs when seeking reimbursement, and to use

original receipts. If you need to be reimbursed, please get an expense form from Jeanine.

 

Membership Report

        Betty Mak introduced the new members.  A sign up sheet was made available for those interested in the

mentorship program.

        Members need to contact Betty if they are not receiving the Opus, or do not have nametags or their

WSMTA certificates. Any address or email updates should be sent to emtamembers@gmail.com

 

Holiday Tea

        The Holiday Tea will be on December 8th from 10:30-12pm at the home of Donna Sams. A sign up

sheet was passed around.

 

Workshops

On January 12th from 10-12:30pm Jill Timmons and Judith Cohen will present and perform on duet and duo

piano literature.

 

Correspondence

        Carolyn Carson sent a get well card to Carmen Still.

 

Teacher Referral Sign-up

        The teacher referral sign-up sheet was made available to the members.

 

Scholarship Competition Report

        Julie Howe reported that the competition preparation is progressing well.  The due date for entry forms

is January 15th by 5pm at Sherman Clay or in the mail to Yunbo Cassady. Students must participate in

adjudications to be eligible.

 

Ribbon Festival

        Ribbon Festival packets were due at the meeting.  The Festival is on January 24th at Cedar Park

Assembly.

 

Library

        Sherry Owen reported new materials. There are 3 new CD’s by Dr. Steven Spooner and the book The

Confident Performer by Dr. David Roland.

 

Scholarship Recital Report

        Yunbo acknowledged the teachers who sold the most tickets for the recital.  She thanked them for their

support of the Scholarship Recital.

 

Adjudications

        In Sheri’s absence, Carol pointed out the FAQ section of the booklet, and strongly urged the members

to use the Excel spreadsheet. The forms are due on January 5th at Sherman Clay by 5pm, or mailed to Sheri by

December 31st.  Booklet information is on the EMTA website.  Contact adjudication committee with any

questions.

 

New Business

        The teachers whose students won honors at the Outstanding Artists Competition and the MTNA State

Competition were honored.

 

Programs

        Eric introduced Judy Baker as the program presenter.  The program is on phrasing and articulation.
