Chapter Meeting
April 27, 2009
President Carol Hibbard
opened the meeting at 9:46 am. The March minutes were approved as posted.
Finance Report
Jeanine Edmonds gave the finance
report. (see attached) She reminded members to turn in any expenses for
reimbursement.
Membership Report
Betty Mak made a sign up sheet
available for those interested in the mentorship program. She reminded members
to fill out and turn in
the Participating Membership form and the member category update for the
yearbook. Members were
asked to check and update
their personal information on the information table after the meeting.
Referral List
Changes to the referral list
system were discussed with the members.
Instead of signing up for the referral list
each month, the previous
month’s list will be sent around and changes can be made to it as
necessary. Lauri Mitchell
shared that each referral
committee member makes a log of incoming calls and names given so that the list
is processed
fairly. The members
discussed different possibilities for promoting the referral list.
Scholarship Competition
Julie shared that the
competition went beautifully. There were 64 wonderful competitors, and both
adjudicators
enjoyed themselves
immensely. The competition dates for next year are April 14-17, 2010.
Scholarship Recital
The recital date for next year
is October 30, 2009. The artist is Jack Winerock, and he will be in town the
week
prior to the recital to
teach lessons. There will be a workshop on Saturday October 31st.
Library
Sherry Owen shared that the
music sale will be held after the meeting. Funds raised will be given to the
chapter’s
lending library.
Elections
Jennifer Li presented the
nominees for the executive board for the upcoming term: President: KaiLi Yang;
President-Elect: Julie
Howe; Corresponding Secretary: Carolyn Carson; Treasurer: Jeanine Edmonds;
Recording Secretary:
Stephanie Myers. The following motion was presented by
Sharon Lawrence and seconded by Donald Denegar.
MOTION: Accept unanimously
the slate of officers for the 2009-2011 term.
The motion passed
unanimously.
WSMTA Conference
The conference will be held June
21-25th in Yakima. Peter Mack will be the conference artist and Ingrid
Clarefield
will be the main
presenter. If interested in finding a roommate or carpooling, please contact
KaiLi Yang.
New Business
Sally Palmer announced that the
Federation organization will be presenting a fundraiser in August. It will be a
fun, “American Idol” style
event. They are looking for young artists age 18-25 who are connect to
Washington in some
way. There will be prizes for the top three
artists.
Programs
Eric introduced Bonnie Blanchard
as the program presenter. She
presented the program “Transform your
Teaching.”
The meeting adjourned at
