Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

October 26, 2009

 

President KaiLi Yang opened the meeting at 9:42 am. She welcomed all members and reminded them of upcoming events.

 

Minutes

 The September minutes were approved as posted.

 

Finance Report

                  Sherry Owen gave the finance report from July 2009 through October 26th, 2009. (see attached) She went through the deposit and withdrawal information.

 

Membership Report

                  Jeanne Ellis introduced the new members. The New Member Tea will be held at Gladys BathÕs home on November 2nd at 10am. The mentor sign up sheet was passed around.

 

Referral List

                  Sherry Owen read a report from Laurie Mitchell which stated that there were five calls for teachers. Members were asked to look over the referral list to make sure the information was accurate.

 

Correspondence

                  Risa sent Delores McRoberts a sympathy card.

 

Scholarship Recital

                  The recital is this Friday at 7pm. Yunbo reminded teachers to help keep student noise to a minimum.

 

Workshops

                  This Saturday October 31st Jack Winerock will be presenting a workshop on SchumannÕs Album for the Young.

 

Scholarship Competition

                  Julie shared that last yearÕs programs were on the table. If a teacher needs a rulebook please contact her and she will get one to you.

 

Adjudications

                  The adjudicators this year are Steven and Jung Spooner and Jeff and Karen Savage. All the church and date information is in the yearbook. Please fill out the forms using the form available online.

 

Ribbon Festival

                  The Ribbon Festival date is February 27th. Registration packets are available at Sherman Clay or online. The packets need to be returned by the November chapter meeting. Classes are available on a first come first served basis. This year there will only be one ribbon for Scale Olympics. There will be no ear training or rhythm this year.

 

Pre-Meeting Recitals

                  Nicole Kim informed members that she needs a performer for January.

 

Library

                  Pamela Huang reported that there is a new DVD set on Mozart: His life and Music taught by Professor Robert Greenburg.

 

New Business

                  MTNA competition and the Outstanding Artists Competition will be held November 6-8. If you would like to volunteer please contact Laurie Eash or Julie Swienty.

                  An announcement was made expressing the need for a pianist at Good Samaritan Episcopal in Sammamish.

                  Nicole Kim shared the dates for her upcoming recitals: November 5th, 8th, and 20th. Please contact her for the details.

                  Carol Hibbard shared that the board reaffirmed that the Joan Crow email service is for emergency only. All other events should be sent to the Opus.

                  Overflow parking rules will be in the Opus.

 

Programs

                  Eric introduced the panel discussion for ABRSM, Guild and the Federation.
