Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

March 23, 2009

 

President Carol Hibbard opened the meeting at 9:30 am. The minutes of the February meeting were approved as posted.

 

Finance Report

                  Jeanine Edmonds presented the finance report. A copy of the report was provided to the members for their review. There were no comments or questions on the chapterÕs current financial status.

 

Membership Report

Betty Mak requested that all members review their personal information in the current yearbook, including any professional specialties listed in the back of the yearbook. Updates to membersÕ professional specialty listing should be noted on the form provided and returned to Betty. In the future, professional specialties will be listed only in the back of the yearbook to improve the format of the yearbook. A memberÕs primary instrument, however, will continue to be noted in their personal information listing.

Betty reminded members to complete the Participating Membership checklist and return to her no later than the May luncheon, May 11, 2009.

She also reminded the members that their annual dues must be received by MTNA no later than July 15, 2009 for their listing to be included in the new yearbook.

                  The Mentoring sign-up sheet and the Teacher Referral list were circulated.

                  New member, BJ Roscoe was introduced to the chapter.

 

New Officers

                  The membership was not able to vote on the slate of new officers due to insufficient attendance to meet the required quorum. The membership will be asked to vote for the new officers at the April general meeting.

 

Scholarship Competition

                  Donna Sams distributed the timekeeper schedule and asked members to consider volunteering as a substitute timekeeper.

 

Workshops Report

Donna Sams welcomed members to submit ideas for workshops for the 2009-2010 year.

Adjudication Report

                  Teachers are encouraged to complete and send adjudicator evaluation forms to Sheri Skidmore

 

Honors Recital

                  Pamela Huang reported that 28 students representing 17 studios participated in the recital. All gave exceptional performances. She requested that an appreciation card be sent to Sherman Clay for hosting the event.

 

Library Report

Sherry Owen announced the annual library sale at the April general meeting. Members may bring music and books to donate to the sale. All sales are considered tax deductible. Items not purchased will be donated to MusicLinks.

 

Program

                  Eric Armstrong introduced the post-meeting program Š Nancy Drake and the Independent Music Teachers Forum.

 

The meeting adjourned at 10:15 a.m.
