Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

President KaiLi Yang opened the meeting at 9:48 am.
Minutes
The November minutes were approved as posted.
Finance Report
The finance report was made available to members. (see attached) Sherry Owen outlined the income and expense numbers. The Chase checking account was closed in December and the balance was transferred to Washington Federal Savings.
Membership Report
Jeanne Ellis introduced the new members. She passed around the mentor sign up sheet.
Referral List
Lauri Mitchell shared that there were five calls since the beginning of December. The current referral list is almost ready to be posted online. The names will be posted by city, and Olive will occasionally shuffle the names within each city. You must be a current member to be on the referral list. If you recently became a member, be aware that there is a three week lag between when MTNA gets your dues and the information is sent on to Jeanne.
Correspondence
Risa received a thank you note from Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside for our contribution to their organization, and she sent a get well card to Barbara Dietrich.
Scholarship Competition
Julie announced that the random drawing will occur during the coffee break. The competition still needs a door monitor coordinator. Every teacher who has students competing in the event needs to participate and volunteer their time.
Adjudications
Donna Bender shared that they did their best to accommodate all the teachers and their requests. The packets will be coming shortly.
Ribbon Festival
Carmen shared that the festival is on track. If a teacher has not signed up to bring a dish please contact Sally Palmer. Contact Carmen if there are any questions.
Workshops
The last workshop will be February 1st from 10-12:30pm, and Robin McCabe will present on developing the inner hearing of our students.
Library
Pamela Huang reminded members to please return resources that were checked out at the last meeting. Contact her if you have any ideas for new materials.
New Business
Mary Toy introduced the music director at Christ Church Academy.
Sondra Hopper and Kathy DeWalt announced the upcoming 10 Grands concert to benefit the Snowman Foundation. KingFM is a sponsor this year, and they are putting together a 10 Grands Young Artists competition. The deadline is March 12th. Information was passed out on the contest, and tickets and information were made available at the break.
Christopher Bowlby announced that the Seattle International Music Festival is in its 3rd year. They are adding two new festivals in April: the Romantic festival and the Contemporary festival.
KaiLi shared that she is producing a movie on Ingrid Clarfield. Please check the website at www.takeabowthemovie.com
Programs
Eric introduced the program presenter John Pickett who will speak on achieving a vocal tone at the piano.
