Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting
President KaiLi Yang opened the meeting at 9:50 am.
Minutes
The February minutes were approved as posted.
The finance report was made available to members. (see attached) Sherry Owen outlined the income and expense numbers.
Membership Report
Jeanne Ellis introduced a new member. She handed out the update list, and the mentor signup sheet was passed around.
Woodcock Proposal
Julie shared about Dorothy WoodcockÕs vision and handed out the event proposal sheet. Every year there will be an event for either teachers or students. 2010-2011 will be an event for students, and 2011-2012 will be for teachers. The board would like teachers to put in their proposals by either the April meeting or in the mail to Julie by April 26th.
Scholarship Competition
Julie announced that the planning is going well. Donna Sams asked for backup timekeepers in case of emergency.
Adjudications
Sheri Skidmore reported that 51 teachers and slightly less than 400 students participated in the Eastside Chapter Adjudications this year, and 6 different locations were used. The Honor Recitals went very smoothly, and coordinator Cindy Horng was thanked for all her efforts.
Ribbon Festival
Carmen reported that this year went more smoothly than it has gone in a while. She handed out a packet outlining the Ribbon Festival jobs. She needs managers for different positions for the Festival.
Library
Pamela Huang reported that two new books on Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky from the series The Great Masters are now available.
Lauri Mitchell announced that the phone line will be disconnected by the end of March. The web list will be updated every three months.
Historian
Gladys Bath let the members know that she is collecting programs and items for the chapter scrapbook. If any members have any good memorabilia they are willing to share, please get them to her.
New Business
Sharon Van Valin reminded members about the rules regarding the copyright laws.
Julie reported that Seattle Young Artists went well and encouraged teachers to attend next year.
KaiLi reported that the National MTNA conference in Albuquerque was wonderful, and she was able to do more filming with Ingrid Clarfield. The next conference will be in Milwaukee.
Eric introduced the program presenter B.J.Rosco who will speak on her literature written to prepare students to perform the works of the masters.
