Eastside Chapter, WSMTA Chapter Meeting

November 22, 2010


President KaiLi Yang opened the meeting at 9:54 am.


Minutes

 The October minutes were approved as posted.


Finance Report

There was no finance report.


Membership Report

Jeanne Ellis handed out the updated member list.  She made the mentor list available and passed around the teacher referral list. 


Correspondence

Risa had nothing to report.


Scholarship Competition

Julie announced that the competition is going well. The random drawing for the competition schedule will be at the January meeting and she asked for volunteers to help with the drawing.


Woodcock Memorial Series

Julie shared that the Series was very successful and was a positive experience for the students and teachers. Other teachers shared that their students were encouraged by the event. 


Adjudications

Sheri Skidmore announced that all adjudications forms are online this year and need to be completed on a computer. All the forms are at www.eastsidemusicteachers.org. These include the directions form, adjudications booklet and the application form. She encouraged teachers to buy extra time for their students. She emphasized that forms cannot be filled out by hand and must be done on a computer.  Leonard Richter, Del Parkinson and Greg Pressley are going to be adjudicating on Monday as well.  Teachers can participate in the Honors Recital if they enter 5 students or more. Any questions can be directed to Sheri.


New Business

Julie shared that the dates for the February and March general meetings are incorrect in the yearbook.  The correct dates for the meetings are February 28th and March 28th. 

Carol shared that the book sale in November was successful. She announced that there will be another music sale December 5th from 1-5pm at the Bowles home on Mercer Island. Music will be from the studios of Beverly Bowles, Sandy Arildson and Connie Hungate.  Money that is donated will go to the Beverly Bowles Memorial Fund to encourage composition.  Tom Bowles sent magazines for teachers to take. They will be available at the break after the meeting. 

Meg Mann shared that Maria Sier will be starting a new class to train in the Well-Prepared Pianist system. 


Programs

Eric announced that Jody Graves will be presenting on the Heart of Performance. 


The meeting adjourned at 10:35am.
