April 26, 2010

President KaiLi Yang opened the meeting at 9:50 am.

Minutes

 The March minutes were approved as posted.

Finance Report

The finance report was made available to members. (see attached) Sherry Owen outlined the income and expense numbers for the year. 

Membership Report

Jeanne Ellis handed out the update list, and the mentor signup sheet was passed around. 

Correspondence

Risa sent a thank you card to Eric Morris for his amazing work with the Opus systems the last several years. She also sent a thank you to Gary from Kennelly Keys for his help with renting instruments for Ribbon Festival. She sent a sympathy card and flowers to Michi North for the passing of her husband.

Adjudications

Donna Bender reported that they are still working on getting adjudicators for 2011.

Scholarship Competition

Donna Bender thanked all those who participated in the competition. She encouraged teachers to participate in the competition next year.

Woodcock Proposal

All teacher proposals need to be turned in to Kai-Li today or postmarked and mailed to Julie Howe today.

Ribbon Festival

Carmen reported that this year went more smoothly than it has gone in a while. She handed out a packet outlining the Ribbon Festival jobs. She needs managers for different positions for the Festival.

Library

Pamela Huang reported that the Performance Practices DVD case was returned empty. Please contact Pamela if you still have it.

WSMTA Conference

The conference this year will be June 21-25^th in Olympia. A discount will be given if registration is postmarked by May 15^th.

Referral List

Lauri Mitchell announced that the phone line has been disconnected. The web list will be updated every three months. She passed around a referral list.

Workshops

Donna Sams shared that she is setting up the workshops for next year. Please let her know of any ideas. Some speaker ideas include Sharon Clark, John Pickett and Lisa Bergman.

New Business

The May Luncheon will be at Ann Stockman’s home on May 10^th.

Judy Huen shared that the Emerald Ballet Theatre will perform on May 29^th at 2pm and 7pm at the Northshore Performing Arts Center.

Programs

Eric introduced the program presenter Gail Tremblay who will speak on practice tips.

The meeting adjourned at 10:11am.
